Tips for Copywriting

July 31, 2008 · 1 Comment

by Ray Edwards

This article will examine how to increase your client base and improve your writing.

If you improve these two skills then you will become far more successful as a copywriter. Many talented copywriters struggle because they cannot find clients or sell themselves. You must learn to sell yourself if you want to become successful and set yourself apart from those around you.

Make a portfolio and put some of your best work in it. You should also include a letter that outlines your qualifications, has examples of your writing, and includes testimonials from past clients. This allow potential clients see your work as they consider hiring you.

If you can, reference as many Fortune 500 companies as clients. If you’re just starting out, do not include potential clients, only list past work. If you have worked for an advertising agency and are looking to do some from freelance copywriting, make sure to include some of your work from the advertising agency.

One possible way to gain new clients is to post your availability on websites such as elance.com or directfreelance.com. Here you can post your portfolio and research companies you may want to work for. Another way to generate leads is by reading the business section of the newspaper. Cut out all the references to companies involved in your particular field. These companies may require your skills at some point.

If you need to improve your copywriting skills, then read some books by the experts. Dan Kennedy is a great example. His books are very useful and will help you create better copy. In particular, his book “The Ultimate Sales Letter” will help you immensely by outlining how to write great copy and by working through several example writing-projects.

Hopefully this article has benefited you. Stephen King once stated in Time Magazine that writing was similar to working out. As you lift weights, you’ll get stronger. Copywriting is similar. The more you write, the better you will get.

How To Help Your Business Stand Out On The Internet

Knowing which market you plan to sell to is an essential part of a successful internet business. Part of knowing your market is familiarizing yourself with any and all competition. This way you can shape your business and marketing plan to target a narrow category of people that are most likely to buy your product or service.

Having a well-researched product that truly fills a need online is the first step. You must also attract the right kind of prospects to your website. People that have typed in specific keywords should ultimately land on your page, and are known as qualified leads.

To draw the right kind of visitors to your homepage you need to offer a product they can use. Then you need to be the most highly visible seller of this product online. As people are using the internet for convenience and efficiency, they do not want to scroll through dozens of listings.

There are several ways to go about ensuring your place among the first few listings. Writing new articles laden with these keywords is one method. You just need to update your content regularly to trigger a search engine to update your ranking.

While improving your visibility and offering a superior product, you should also pay close attention to your website content, layout, and design. Don’t overburden yourself with these tasks unless you have specialized experience with them already. These jobs are best left to professionals to get the best results.

Also stay on top of the data that tells you how well your website is performing. If you aren’t capable of reading server stats, outsource this valuable task. It is helpful to find out which sources are giving you the most hits and how many of those visitors actually purchase something once they arrive.

With this kind of information, you can tailor your marketing plans in the future to fill in gaps that currently exist and do away with ineffective strategies as well. You should always be willing to change your website to match current market developments. Doing so also proves to your clientele and prospects that you are on top of your game.

Being one of the Internet’s success stories means working in a fast-paced and ever changing environment. If you can properly manage your website, keep tabs on your competition and devise new ways to drive traffic to your business you are ahead of the game. The ultimate way to ensure your success, however, is providing high-quality services and products that customers will be proud to brag to their friends about.

How To Get A Top 10 Listing With Google

July 28, 2008 · 1 Comment

by Lucas Heijn

When you set up a shop you need customers to be successful. Every person that walks in through your door is a potential customer. The more traffic you have through that door the more chance you have of making sales. On the internet it is the same. To get that traffic to your site you either advertise using PPC and or optimize your site to get search engine traffic.

In order to get the traffic you require to run a successful internet business, you need search engine traffic. To get this traffic you need to be listed in the first 20 listings. The first 10 really needs to be your goal. This is the first 2 pages; Here are some thing you need to do.

Get the best keywords

In choosing your keywords you need to make sure that you can get it listed in the top 10. Some words have so much competition that it would be foolhardy to even attempt to use them. Trying to use these words would be a waste of time.

Look for long tail keywords. Long tail keywords are keyword phrases of from 3 – 5 words. In your research you will need to look at how many searches are made on that phrase as you will need to have a reasonable amount of searches. You also need to note how much competition that phrase has. If there are too many trying for that phrase it will be better to choose another; One that you can get to the top 10.

What you need to do to optimize your site.

The title tag on you page is the most important tag. This is what Google uses for its listings. This tag is very important in Google’s listings.

In setting up this tag, you need to use the keyword phrase that your research has helped you to choose. It is best to have this phrase come up early in your title tag. If you can use it twice in the tag, do so. You MUST use it at least once in this tag.

Another thing that is important is that you have a unique new tag for each page of your site optimized with your keyword phrase.

Using an XML Sitemap can be helpful. It does not directly impact on your search rankings but it will help Google more quickly see changes in your site.

To eliminate or reduce 404 errors a robots.txt file is useful as well. This is the first file the search engine will look for when it visits your site to index it.

These are just a few of the thing you can and should do to help your page rankings and thus your listing position in the search engines. There are a lot of other thing you can do but they will have to be the subject of another article.

One of the Most Important Internet Marketing Tips You Need To Use

July 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

by Dennis Stokes

If you are like me, you’re always looking for Internet marketing tips and ideas so you can have internet business success and finally make money online.

A home based Internet marketing business can be a dream come true. Leaving that grind of a job and finally having a home base that gives you the ability to make a great income, pay the bills and finally get out of that life sucking debt.

So if someone is really motivated and has a doable Internet marketing strategy, what in the heck keeps most people from ever attaining their dreams of home business success?

Well I think there are many factors, but one essential Internet marketing tip or skill that most people have a hard time developing is focus. You heard me right, focus is the key to success in any endeavor including a home based business.

Please take note. If you really want success in your business, you really want to take this advise.

Before I started really focusing, I would work a lot, but never really get anything accomplished.

If something was difficult to do, I would end up distracting myself by reading my e-mails, looking at all the offers pouring into my email inbox or get caught up by all the new techniques, software and would end up not ever completing a single project all the way through.

Are you like me and end up doing this?

Focus is a key ingredient in you online success. Don’t let all the distractions waste your valuable business time. I’m sure you would rather make money than read about someone else making a bunch of money. Of course there’s time to learn more about what’s going on in the online world, but not during the work hours you set for yourself.

I’m going to tell you three things that I have done that will make you laser focused and really help you with your business.

1- It’s absolutely necessary to find a nice quiet work space somewhere in your house. Also you need to plan a block of time that’s set aside for work and nothing else. The goal is to work uninterrupted for that amount of time.

2 – Let your family know that you are at work and you’re not to be interrupted. Believe me if you don’t create a space and set aside specific times to work on your Internet business, you won’t get anything done or make money online. That brings me to the next point

3 – Know what projects you are going to work on that day and break them down into doable tasks. Then prioritize the most important tasks. The most important tasks for me are the one that are going to make me money.

If you have a prioritized list, then you know exactly what you need to do that day. Have a timer set and work, focusing on each task.

Again, don’t get distracted at all. If your spouse or girlfriend wants something, it’s just going to have to wait. Don’t be tempted do keep looking at what’s in your email in box. If you absolutely have to then stop the timer until you come back. This is your living so treat it as such.

Finally, get into the habit of writing down what you did for the day in the form of a business journal. Write what you accomplished or what didn’t happen. Record the good, bad, frustrations and whatever else comes to mind.

Keep this journal everyday and it will give you clarity, vision and focus in your business. Having your thoughts on paper has a way of making things tangible and real. You will find that it really will keep you motivated and on track.

Remember, as a critical Internet marketing tip, focus is a key ingredient in your overall Internet marketing strategy. Planning your time and work space as well as having a prioritized list and keeping a business journal will make or break the success of your business.

If you want to profit in an home based business of your own secure this special booklet with Internet marketing ideas and tips and at last be able to jump into a home based internet marketing business of your own.
